Penguins Vs. Canadiens Score Update: Penguins Extend Lead To 3-0 On Arron Asham Goal

The Penguins extend their lead to 3-0 early in the third period against the Montreal Canadiens.

Arron Asham scored his first goal of the 2011-12 season for the Penguins five minutes into the third period against the Montreal Canadiens to give the home team a resounding 3-0 lead.

The Penguins scored first just five minutes into the first period on a goal by James Neal, his seventh of the young season. Steve Sullivan and Richard Park provided assists. The score stayed 1-0 until nine minutes into the second period, when Joe Vitale doubled the Pens' lead. Deryk Engelland provided an assist on the goal.

Then in the third period, Asham opened his account for the 2011-12 season on a goal with assists by Engelland and Matt Niskanen. Engelland has tallied two assists on the night.

Both teams have struggled on the power play, going a combined 0-for-8 with four opportunities apiece, but the Penguins have managed to outshoot the Canadiens by seven to this point and have taken advantage of the opportunities they have had. With time winding down in the third period the score still stands at 3-0.

Don't touch that mouse, because we will have a game recap directly after this one goes final on SB Nation Pittsburgh.
