Devils Vs. Penguins: Pittsburgh Maintains 1-0 Lead After Second Period

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to lead the New Jersey Devils 1-0 courtesy of a first period power play goal by Jordan Staal, his fourth tally of the season. The second period saw both teams struggle to generate scoring opportunities, though an interesting shot blocking exhibition has broken out between Devil Anton Volchenkov and Penguin Zbynek Michalek, both who have sacrificed their body in blocking five shots a piece.

Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been impressive, stopping all 19 shots he has faced. New Jersey started Johan Hedberg in net, replacing the injured Martin Brodeur, and Hedberg has stopped 12 of 13 shots faced. Pittsburgh did not put much pressure on the backup in the second period, mustering just four shots on goal.
