Devils Vs. Penguins Final Score: Pittsburgh Explodes In Third Period, Defeats New Jersey, 4-1

After fighting through two periods against the New Jersey Devils (3-2-1) with just a 1-0 lead, the Pittsburgh Penguins (6-2-2) exploded in the final stanza, scoring three times in recording a 4-1 win. Jordan Staal scored twice in the game, his second goal of the game being the milestone 100th of his career.

Staal got the Penguins on the scoreboard in the first period with a power play goal, taking advantage of a penalty by the Devils Zach Parise. The 23-year-old Pittsburgh star also scored five minutes into the third period, giving the Penguins a 3-1 lead.

Pittsburgh attempted 16 shots in the third frame, scoring three goals in the span of six minutes. James Neal continued his tremendous start to the season, notching his eighth goal in ten games, and the Penguins scored two power play goals on the night, one by Staal in the first period and one by Chris Kunitz in the third period less than two minutes after New Jersey's Patrick Elias had tied the score at 1-1 with a shorthanded tally.

Marc-Andre Fleury was again solid in net, stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced. In the Penguins last two games, wins over New Jersey and Montreal, Fleury has stopped 50 of 52 attempts on net.
