The Pittsburgh Penguins saw a five-game losing streak snapped with a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. They don't have a ton of chances to atone for that loss this week as they'll play just two games on an abbreivated West Coast trip. So I hope everyone here is ready to stay up late on a work night for some Penguins hockey.
Their first game will be against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night at 10:30. The Sharks are one of the League's best teams and they have a 6-3-0 record to show for it. They in the ten of goals per game, goals allowed per game, and power play percentage. But they are also one of the worst teams in the NHL at killing penalties, so that may be an area of the game where they can be exploited. They have one more game tonight against the Rangers before facing the Penguins on Thursday.
Over the coming weekend the Penguins have a date with the Los Angeles Kings scheduled for Saturday. The Kings are a surprising 6-3-2 this season despite averaging just 2.4 goals per game, good for 20th in the NHL. They sport one of the League's best defenses though, giving up less than two goals a game. They'll face the Oilers on Thursday.
