The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a little bit of trouble. They haven't been playing their best football, and a number of their key contributors could be watching this game from the sidelines with injuries. So which Steelers will be smart plays for your fantasy team? For some perspective, we'll use our partners numberFire.com.
Ben Roethlisberger: Big Ben has a foot injury that required a walking boot when he left the stadium last Sunday, so who knows if he will even play. But if he does, you can imagine that he will probably be a little limited because of that injury. numberFire projects him to put up just about 13 points, which isn't that great for a starting quarterback. Hopefully you have a better option on your roster, and I would recommend using it.
Rashard Mendenhall: Mendenhall also suffered an injury during the game against the Texans, but luckily, his hamstring injury doesn't seem to be too serious. So he should play. But the question is whether or not he can be effective with whatever injury he does have. NumberFire has him projected at just under 10 points. If Big Ben is out, he should get a lot of touches.
Mike Wallace: Based on the nature of his game, Mike Wallace is typically a boom or bust prospect when you play him. He's either going to catch that long touchdown pass or he isn't. NumberFire says he has about a 50/50 shot of catching that touchdown this week, and they project him at just over 10 points. But he is a guy you can't sit if you have him on your roster.
Defense: The Steelers defense is kind of banged up themselves, but based on their scheme alone they are always a must-play.
