The West Virginia Mountaineers opened the second half with a stalled drive after moving the ball just 15 yards on 8 plays. The Connecticut Huskies got the football back and began to drive down the football field on the arm of Johnny McEntee, including hitting a big third down pass to Ryan Griffin for 13 yards. Two plays later, McEntee hit receiver Kashif Moore for 17[yards to get into the redzone and down to the West Virginia 13 yard line.
On the very next play however, McEntee fumbled the football and it was recovered by West Virginia. Jewon Snow recovered the ball and ran it back 78-yards to the UConn 12-yard line. Two plays later, Gino Smith hit Travon Austin for a 12-yard touchdown pass to push the Mountaineers lead to 17-9, putting the pressure on the UConn offens.e
