Penn State vs. Nebraska: Cornhuskers Draw First Blood

After the Nebraska punt, Penn State starts the drive with a completion from Matthew McGloin to tight end Kevin Haplea, followed by a couple of nifty first down runs from Silas Redd. He hasn't gotten a lot of action until this drive, but he looks rejuvenated by the bye week. The drive stalls, though, and we have another punt.

On the ensuing Nebraska drive, the Cornhuskers finally get something going in the running game, using the option to pick up a couple of first downs. They then pick up a couple of first downs through the air to get themselves into scoring range. Defensive end Jack Crawford takes over, however, registering a sack tackle on third down to force a Nebraska field goal attempt.

Brett Maher comes on and hits a 41-yard field goal to get Nebraska on the board. With 10:55 to play in the half, the Huskers lead 3-0.

Nebraska scoring summary: 9 plays, 50 yards, 3:53 time of possession.
