2011 Bowl Projections: Could Alabama And Stanford Play In BCS National Championship?

SBNation.com has its latest set of 2011 bowl projections, and it has Alabama and Stanford facing off in the BCS National Championship Game. For that to happen, of course, Alabama will have to beat LSU this Saturday.

SB Nation has Wisconsin and Cincinnati taking automatic bids from the Big Ten and Big East, respectively. The three major local teams – Penn State, Pitt and WVU – all still have a shot at a BCS bowl, although SB Nation’s picks are hard to argue with. Penn State is undefeated in conference play but has a very tough schedule down the stretch, and it’s possible the Nittany Lions could lose to Michigan State and Wisconsin while Wisconsin runs the table. In the Big East, Cincinnati is the only remaining undefeated team in conference play. The Bearcats play their next two games against Pitt and West Virginia, though, so there is much that is yet to be determined.

SB Nation has Penn State heading to the Insight Bowl to play Texas, West Virginia facing off against Temple in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, and Pitt … staying home, actually.
