Northwestern Vs. Penn State: Nittany Lions Look To Avoid Four Game Streak

Penn State will host Northwestern today at 3:30 P.M. desperately seeking an end to a three-game losing streak. Since upsetting Wisconsin at the Bryce Jordan Center a couple of weeks ago, the Nittany Lions have dropped their last three contests to Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State, in deflating fashion.

Any hopes the team has of going to the NCAA Tournament pretty much hinge on winning the rest of their games, starting today with Northwestern. Even last season, when the Lions went 3-15 in conference, they managed to take down Northwestern twice both at home and on the road. It would appear the Wildcats represent a good matchup for the Lions.

Forward John Shurna leads the way for Northwestern, averaging 17.8 points per game. He's battled injury at points this season, though, which has held the average down a bit. Michael Thompson averages double figures as well and might be the 'cats' most dynamic player. He can score from any point on the floor and has some athleticism. He'll be a tough guard for Penn State.
