La Roche College Basketball Team Thriving After Coach's Untimely Passing

Dejan Kovacevic of the Post-Gazette has a great story on the La Roche College men's basketball team, which is now 23-2 despite the untimely death of its coach, Scott Lang, in December. Lang went to one knee during practice, then collapsed on La Roche's logo at center court. Since then, the Pittsburgh-area school is 16-1 under the direction of new coach Harry Jenkins, and they're the No. 1 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament.

I can't imagine having been in their position, what they must have felt when they watched it happen," Mike Lang said of the players witnessing his brother's death. "It's almost unreal how they've responded to it, just a beautiful thing."

The players still shout, "Together," with every break of a huddle, a reference to the phrase "Suffer Together" that Scott Lang painted on a locker-room wall.

It's a great story, and hopefully it can continue. La Roche will face Hilbert, which it beat twice during the season, in the AMCC tournament semifinals on Friday.
