Panthers Vs. Penguins: Marc-Andre Fleury, James Neal Come Through Yet Again In Shootout

The Penguins won yet another game in a shootout today, beating the Florida Panthers 2-1.

After a slow start to the game, Ryan Carter scored the first goal for the Panthers late in the second period. But Ben Lovejoy quickly answered to tie the game at one, thanks in part to a nifty pass from Alex Kovalev.

After a scoreless overtime period, Marc-Andre Fleury got the job done for the Pens yet again. Scott Clemmensen (who had replaced Tomas Vokoun after regulation ended) stopped Kris Letang's shot at the start of the shootout, and then Mike Santorelli missed for the Panthers. Alex Kovalev then wristed in a shot for the Pens, and Fleury stopped Niclas Bergfors. James Neal then scored to put the game away for the Pens.

Fleury also registered 37 saves in the game.

The Pens have now won four consecutive games, all in shootouts. The Penguins, who clinched a playoff spot last night, are within two points of the Philadelphia Flyers, who lead the Eastern Conference with 100 points.
