After having been defeated 7-1 in their ugly home opener Thursday afternoon, the Pirates will aim to bounce back against the Colorado Rockies Friday night at 7:05.
The Pirates will send Ross Ohlendorf, who allowed four runs in six innings in his first start of the season, against the Chicago Cubs. The Rockies' starter will be Jorge De La Rosa, which should be interesting for Pirates fans because De La Rosa was one of the Pirates' offseason free agent targets, and the Pirates made him a "highly competitive" offer before he eventually re-signed with the Rockies, who gave him two years and $21.5 million plus a player option for 2013.
De La Rosa left his first start of the season, against the Diamondbacks, due to a blister on his finger, but that appears to be fine now.
After a poor offensive performance last night - the Bucs managed just four hits - the Pirates will try to generate some offense tonight to rev up the home crowd. Their performance in their first two road series shows they're certainly capable of some serious hitting, but they have yet to put that on display in Pittsburgh.
