The Pirates lost to the Indians 5-1 Saturday night in Cleveland as Carlos Carrasco cruised to victory.
Carrasco took a no-hitter into the sixth inning (when it was broken up by Michael McKenry) and flummoxed the Pirates with pitches that dove out of the strike zone. The Pirates managed just four hits overall, all against Carrasco, and mustered one run in the seventh when Garrett Jones doubled and Lyle Overbay singled him in.
Meanwhile, the Indians scored in the first (on a sacrifice fly by Carlos Santana), second (on an RBI double by Grady Sizemore), and sixth (on a solo homer by Orlando Cabrera) and twice in the seventh. Bucs starter Paul Maholm allowed four runs in 6.1 innings; the other was pinned on reliever Tony Watson.
The Bucs will try to salvage one game from the series on Sunday before taking on the Baltimore Orioles. Jeff Karstens will take on Justin Masterson at 1:05 PM Sunday.
