I've already written about the possible return of Jaromir Jagr to the Penguins here and here, but it looks like we're going to be talking about it for a while, so in the meantime, any news about him will go in this thread. Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is set to kick off a new round of discussion about the Penguins star's return with this report.
The Penguins currently have no comment, but were considering options regarding Jagr over the weekend. Jagr's camp reached out to the Penguins at some point over the past three days.
The Red Wings and Penguins are as of now considered his top choices, but sources said a third team is in the mix. That team is not believed to be Montreal.
Jagr's camp is meeting today to discuss his options.
It's possible that all this is a ruse to increase Jagr's bargaining leverage for a new deal in Europe. These Jagr rumors have looked dead at least a couple times in the past month So who knows? But Jagr still might be a strong NHL player, and the Penguins can use another good winger. As some folks at PensBurgh pointed out on Monday, it would be hard to see him picking Detroit over Pittsburgh, if those are the two choices - he fits the Penguins' team needs better, he has a history here, and Pittsburgh is a much better place to live.
