Pirates Vs. Braves: Bucs Split Series With 5-2 Victory

The Pirates managed to split a four-game series against the Atlanta Braves with a 5-2 win Thursday night that featured 6.1 strong innings from Kevin Correia and a big day for Andrew McCutchen.

Correia helped his own cause with an RBI single in the second, and then McCutchen's RBI double in the fifth made it 2-1. Pedro Alvarez had an RBI groundout in the same inning to extend the lead.

McCutchen then hit a two-run homer in the ninth to pad the Pirates' lead, but Joel Hanrahan pitched in the bottom of the inning anyway, earning his 30th save of the season.

The Pirates benefited from seven walks by the Braves, as two runners who had walked came around to score

The Pirates' series split wasn't bad, given that the game on Tuesday was stolen from them. They'll now head to Philadelphia for another tough series.
