Here's the schedule for the weekend of the 2011 MLB All-Star Game, which will be next week at Chase Field in Arizona.
The All-Star Future Game will take place at 6:00 PM on July 10. Pirates prospect Starling Marte will represent the World team. The All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game will be at around 9:30 the same day.
The Home Run Derby will take place on July 11 at 8:00 PM.
The All-Star Game proper will be on July 12 at 8:00 PM. We'll wait to see which Pirate, or Pirates, will be represented, but Joel Hanrahan and Andrew McCutchen are the most likely choices. A case could also be made for Jeff Karstens. The All-Star Game recently has not been any great shakes for Pirates fans, who usually have to suffer the indignity of having one token selection and who don't care about the 'this time it counts' stuff because they're never contending. This time, though, they have some very legitimate All-Star candidates, and they're still in contention in early July.
