2012 NHL Draft Heading To Pittsburgh, Or At Least That's What The Furries Seem To Be Indicating

Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News reported yesterday that the weekend of Anthrocon 2012, the yearly convention that brings a mass migration of men and women dressed in a variety of anthropomorphic costumes to Pittsburgh, was moved back a week.

↵

Why does this matter? Because it’s an indication that the City of Pittsburgh is moving events around to host the 2012 NHL Draft.

Kennedy’s report makes reference to a post on the Anthrocon’s official message board, one that Deadspin was kind enough to dig up, not-so-subtly hinting at what was bumping their convention back a week.

Pittsburgh has been given a very rare opportunity to host an event that they have been wanting to host for many years. The only trouble was that the proposed event (and we won’t say what it is until it is officially announced) would lie in part over Anthrocon’s planned weekend.

Anthrocon was initially planned to take place during the weekend of June 22-24, not coincidentally the most likely weekend of next season’s draft.

No official announcement has been made regarding Pittsburgh being awarded the draft outside of simple confirmation that the city has, in fact, lodged a bid to host the event.

Circumstantial evidence like this, however, would make the bid’s success appear all the more likely.
