Former University of Iowa Hawkeyes safety and Steelers undrafted free agent Brett Greenwood collapsed with what appears to be a heart attack while working out on Friday, the Quad City Times reports.
↵He was at his alma mater, Pleasant Valley High School in Riverdale, Iowa, working out while a group of high school players watched. Then he collapsed.
↵↵↵"That's just an assumption," Viel said. "Basically, his heart stopped. I know that."
↵Viel said it took only one shock from a defibrillator to restore a pulse, however.
↵Greenwood was taken to Trinity Bettendorf, where Teymer said he was on a ventilator before being transported to Iowa City.
↵"I'm just so glad our trainer and our nurse were already here," Teymer added. "I don't know what would have happened if they hadn't been.''
↵
He was in critical condition at a nearby hospital, and was then transferred to a hospital in Iowa City.
↵The Steelers released Greenwood last week, and he was apparently trying to get another NFL gig.
↵We at SB Nation wish him the best of luck.
