Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis Among Hall Of Fame Candidates

The NFL Has announced its preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming Hall of Fame class, and it features some familiar faces for the Steelers franchise. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Jerome Bettis and Dermontti Dawson are back on the ballot this year, while former head coach Bill Cowher makes his first appearance in his first year of eligibility. But before you buy your plane tickets to Canton, Ohio, remember that we still have a while to go before we know who is in the Hall.

From the 103 nominees, the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee will choose 25 candidates who will advance as semifinalist nominees. The list of 25 semifinalists will be announced in mid-November. The list of 25 semifinalists will be further reduced by a mail ballot to 15 modern-era finalists and announced in early January.

Then the voters will decide who will get into the Hall. But even if these three guys don't make any of those cuts, this is a pretty big honor for all of them. Congrats to Bill, Jerome and Dermontti.
