Here are the rules for the 2012 NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft. The draft will create two teams from a player pool of 38 All-Stars and 12 rookies. Daniel Alfredsson of the host Ottawa Senators will be the captain of one team, and the assistant captain will be Henrik Lundqvist. The other team will be captained by Zdeno Chara, and that team's assistant captain will be Joffrey Lupul.

After a coin toss, Teams Alfredsson and Chara will pick the 38 All-Stars one by one through 19 rounds. Each team has to have 12 forwards, six defensemen and three goalies. The goalies all have to be picked by the end of Round 10, and the defensemen must be picked the end of Round 15.

Each team will also contain six rookies who will participate in the NHL All-Star Skills Competition. The 12 rookies will be divided into two groups by the NHL, and during the fantasy draft, one of the rookies will decide which of the two All-Star teams his group will join.

The fantasy draft will take place at 8:00 PM Eastern on Thursday. The skills competition will be at 7:00 PM Saturday, and the All-Star Game itself will be at 4:00 PM Sunday. All events will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.
