The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to begin their final series of the 2012 season when they welcome the Atlanta Braves into town for the first of three games.
The big story of Monday's game is Chipper Jones, who will be playing in his final series in Pittsburgh. Jones is in the Braves lineup on Monday and the Pirates plan to honor his career with a pregame ceremony. It's unknown whether Jones will play in the rest of the series, or if the Braves will instead choose to rest him for the playoffs.
Jeff Locke will make his sixth start of the season for the Pirates, still looking for his first major league win. Locke is 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA this season and 0-6 with a 6.40 ERA in his MLB career. Locke is coming off of a rough start in which he allowed five earned runs over 3-2/3 innings.
Paul Maholm, who has pitched well against the Pirates this season, will start the game for Atlanta. He has started two games against Pittsburgh this season, allowing three runs over 13 innings. Maholm is 13-10 on the season with a 3.71 ERA.
Dan Uggla was originally in the Braves lineup, but was scratched due to swelling in his hand. Complete lineups for both teams can be found below.
