Jerry Sandusky will spend rest of life in prison, lawyer says

Over at SBNation.com, lawyer Bobby Big Wheel explains the Jerry Sandusky verdict and the Mike McQueary lawsuit. There's been some consternation about the length of the sentence -- 30-60 years -- but this makes clear that Sandusky will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

So Jerry Sandusky is going to spend the rest of his life in prison?

Yes, unless he has a successful appeal. But, as I wrote back in July, that's unlikely. Unless Sandusky lives to be 128, he will die in prison. He might have been sentenced to 30-60 years, but there is no way that he will only serve a minimum sentence if he is still alive come 2042.

Sandusky is 68 years old, and it's very hard to believe he'll last in prison until he's 98. Even if he does, his own attorney has admitted Sandusky won't be released. So, unless something incredible happens, he won't be getting out of jail.

Wheel also notes that Sandusky's wife, Dottie, will likely be wiped out financially by civil suits against her husband.

In other words, it's a bleak picture for Sandusky. As it should be, of course.
