Lost a bit in all the hype of Midnight Madness on Friday and Pitt's football game against Louisville on Saturday was that the Panthers' basketball program held its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage on Sunday. The fans who attended the event got their first glimpse of Pitt freshman Steven Adams. If Sunday's game was any indication, Adams should be pretty good:
Adams recorded the only double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He looked comfortable catching the ball in the post and passing it from inside, and he made baskets with each hand while shooting 7 of 11 from the field.
On top of the strong showing, Adams' Blue team also won the game, 65-55.
He wasn't the only one to have a strong showing, though. Junior Talib Zanna led all scorers with 20 points on a perfect 7-7 from the field, Tray Woodall added 16 including several three-pointers, and Lamar Patterson had 15.
