Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst picked up a recruit for 2013 in Avalon High School's (Gaithersburg, Maryland) Rachid Ibrahim. Ibrahim is a running back and safety and reportedly had offers from several schools including Boston College, Iowa, East Carolina, and Ohio. He just picked up an offer from Pitt in the last few days.
It's not immediately known where Ibrahim will play just yet, but the talented athlete ran for nearly 2,000 yards his sophomore year with 26 touchdowns. His numbers have dipped over the past two years due to splitting carries, but he was starting to draw quite a bit of interest from other programs.
Ibrahim is rated as a three-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals, and Scout.
Despite a disappointing season on the field (Pitt is 2-4 on the season), Chryst and the Panthers have still been able to recruit fairly well. They're also still in the mix for several four- and five-star recruits for next season.
