What could have been a meeting between two undefeated Big 12 teams ranked in the top 10 will instead be a still-intriguing matchup between the undefeated Kansas State Wildcats and once-beaten West Virginia Mountaineers in a meeting that will play a key role in the Big 12 down the stretch.
Led by quarterback Geno Smith, the Mountaineers had raced out to a 5-0 start to their 2012 season and a top-five ranking, but a crushing 49-14 loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders ended their perfect start to their season. The Mountaineers still boast the seventh-ranked scoring offense in the nation, led by Smith and his group of receivers.
The Wildcats have also excelled on offense in the season's first half, reaching the No. 4 ranking in the first BCS rankings and a 6-0 record on the strength of quarterback Collin Klein and the 11th-ranked rushing offense in the nation. Klein alone has rushed for 510 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.
Game time, TV schedule: 7 p.m. ET, FOX
Odds: West Virginia is favored by 2.5 points at home.
