Looking to stay unbeaten in conference play, the Penn State Nittany Lions are leading 14-0 over the Iowa Hawkeyes entering the second quarter on Saturday night. The typically modest Penn State offense has looked particularly explosive against the Hawkeyes so far, more than doubling Iowa's total yardage output.
Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin has put up big numbers early, completing 8 of 12 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns, leading the offense on a pair of lengthy drives. The rushing offense has also been efficient, covering 45 yards on nine carries thus far.
The Nittany Lions have held Iowa to just 66 total yards, stifling the Hawkeyes offense both through the air and on the ground. Quarterback James Vandenberg has completed 4 of 8 passes for 46 yards, while the team is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry on the ground.
Penn State is looking for its fifth straight victory since beginning the season 0-2.
