After a loss against Ohio State, Penn State faces an easier task this week in facing Purdue (Saturday, 3:30), which is winless so far in the Big Ten.
As they prepare, the Nittany Lions will focus on the offensive line, which struggled against the Buckeyes.
"I have to think of something I can do better to help that offensive line with different schemes," [Bill] O’Brien said. "They’re hurting, and they’re going to really work hard to try and improve between now and Purdue."
The Boilermakers have allowed at least 29 points in all of their four Big Ten games, a disappointing result for a defense that had been fairly well-regarded, and they allowed three touchdowns to Minnesota freshman quarterback Philip Nelson last week. So Saturday's matchup could be a nice one for the Penn State offense.
The Purdue offense hasn't been much to write home about, either -- senior quarterback Caleb TerBush was yanked against Minnesota last week, and the Boilermakers ended up using two other quarterbacks (Robert Marve and Rob Henry).
Penn State is currently about a three-point favorite.
