Pitt head coach Paul Chryst reportedly picked up a verbal commitment for the class of 2013 from New Jersey athlete Reggie Green. Green plays for Cranford Senior High School and recently announced the commitment on Twitter.
He was also complimentary of Pitt and the area after his announcement:
"The area is beautiful," Green said. "The school, the campus, the city. The coaching staff was really great. The players I talked to were really nice, good people. It just felt like I place I felt at home at."
Green is rated modestly - Rivals calls him a two-star recruit while Scout gives him three stars. Still, he had a solid list of offers from schools including Michigan State, North Carolina State, Boston College, and Rutgers, among others, according to the two sites. Rivals doesn't rate him at any position, but Scout calls him the 90th best safety in the nation.
He plays several positions including quarterback and safety so it's unknown where he will end up for Pitt. In 2011, Green rushed 182 times for 1,523 yards and 18 touchdowns.
