Duquesne's 2012 season came to a disappointing close on Saturday, losing late to Wagner, 23-17. It was the Dukes fourth straight loss, as they closed out the year 3-5 in the Northeast Conference.
In his final game for Duquesne, quarterback Sean Patterson put the Dukes ahead early in the fourth quarter with a six-yard touchdown run. It was the second score in a five-minute stretch for Duquesne, which was looking to pull off the upset and knock off the NEC leading Seahawks. Duquesne couldn't find much room to run all afternoon, but Patterson's rushing TD was preceded by a one-yard punch in by Larry McCoy as the third quarter came to a close.
Undeterred, the Seahawks would respond with nine unanswered fourth quarter points to eke out the 23-17 win. Wagner marched down the field on an 11-play drive that was heavy on the rush and lasted nearly seven minutes. It was capped with a one-yard touchdown run by Dominique Williams, who put Wagner ahead for good with just under six minutes to play.
With the four-game losing streak to round it out, Duquesne finished the season at 5-6 overall.
