Penn State quarterback Matthew McGloin was named the Big Ten offensive player of the week for his performance in the Nittany Lions' victory over the Indiana Hoosiers Saturday.
McGloin was 22-of-32 for 395 yards and four touchdowns, while throwing only one interception. He found his favorite target, wide receiver Allen Robinson, 10 times for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson was one of eight Penn State players to catch a pass from McGloin on Saturday.
McGloin, a former walk-on, has completed 61 percent of his passes this year for 3,071 yards and 23 touchdowns, compared with only five interceptions. He is the first walk-on in Penn State history to start at quarterback.
The Penn State Nittany Lions are 7-4 this season behind McGloin, 5-2 in conference play. They conclude their regular-season schedule at home against the Wisconsin Badgers. The game will be McGloin's final collegiate game, as the Nittany Lions are ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA sanctions.
