West Virginia fell to 1-2 after suffering a 63-60 loss to Davidson in the second round of the Old Spice Classic in Florida on Friday.
Chris Czerapowicz led the Wildcats with 15 points and nine rebounds. Juwan Slaten had 15 points for the Mountaineers, while Deniz Kilicli had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Mountaineers had a 21-14 lead midway through the first half after two straight buckets by Jabarie Hinds. The Mountaineers also had a lead of 30-22 near the end of the first half, but the Wildcats closed the gap to tie the game near the end of the half after a Czerapowicz three-pointer. WVU took a two-point lead into the locker room, but could not hold it, as the Wildcats quickly took a lead in the second half.
The loss to Davidson signaled what many WVU fans already knew -- that, after the departures of Kevin Jones and Truck Bryant, it might be a rough year for the Mountaineers. WVU will now face the loser of Gonzaga and Oklahoma on Sunday at 4:30.
