Penn State vs. Purdue score update: Nittany Lions hold 20-3 lead at halftime

The Penn St. Nittany Lions continued to play well on Saturday afternoon, storming out to a 20-3 lead over the Purdue Boilermakers. Penn State fell behind early in the first quarter, but 20 unanswered points have put the team in good position to win its sixth game of the season.

The Boilermakers worked their way down the field on their first offensive possession, but eventually stalled inside the 10-yard line. Sam McCartney then hit a 22-yard field goal to take the early 3-0 advantage.

It was all Nittany Lions after that one. Sam Ficken hit a 27-yard field goal to tie the game. That was followed by a Michael Zordich touchdown run from 6 yards out. Ficken then hit a 24-yard field goal to take a 13-3 lead, and another touchdown run from Zordich midway through the second quarter gave Penn State a 20-3 lead they are yet to relinquish.

The second half is about to begin. You can catch the game live on ESPNU.
