The West Virginia Mountaineers fell out of the coaches poll on Sunday after suffering a devastating overtime loss at home to the TCU Horned Frogs. Previously ranked 19th in the poll, West Virginia joined fellow Big XII teams Texas Tech and Oklahoma State as the three teams to drop out of the rankings this week.
Unlike the AP poll, West Virginia was not completely shut out of the rankings, as they received seven votes despite the loss. Penn State, however, did not pick up any votes following their victory over the Purdue Boilermakers.
Alabama remains an unanimous No. 1 in the poll following its victory over LSU, which fell four spots to No. 9. Oregon, and Kansas State fell behind the Crimson Tide for the next two spots in the poll, while Notre Dame remains No. 4 despite its upset scare at the hands of Pitt. Georgia and Florida State each jumped one spot to No. 6 and No. 7, followed by Florida at No. 8 and Clemson at No. 9. Undefeated Louisville rounds out the top ten.
