Ike Taylor earned recognition from the NFL this week for his play against the Giants.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Ike Taylor has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Taylor enjoyed a sensational game on Sunday against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, posting seven tackles, a defended pass and an interception in the 24-20 victory.

The Steelers were buoyed by their defense late in the game, as it constantly turned back Eli Manning, giving the offense and Ben Roethlisberger a chance to win the contest.

This year, Taylor has amassed 27 tackles, 20 solo, and eight defended passes. It's been a slow start for the 10-year veteran, but perhaps this game will signal a return to his old form.

On a team that is annually ravaged by injury, Taylor has been a picture of health. In his decade of NFL service, Taylor has only missed three games, all of which were back in 2004.
