The Steelers' disappointing 34-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers was Sunday solidified their status in the NFL Playoff picture, but in a bad way -- they're still in line for the last playoff spot, but that's likely the only shot at the playoffs they're going to get.
The Steelers received help from the Bengals, who also lost to drop to 7-6, falling 20-19 to the Cowboys. Pittsburgh currently holds the tiebreaker against Cincinnati. The Steelers play the Bengals December 23 in what could be a huge game. The Ravens also lost, meaning they didn't clinch the AFC North division.
But the Colts came back to beat the Titans, moving to 9-4 in the process and furthering their stranglehold on the top AFC Wild Card spot. And the Jets beat the Jaguars to move to 6-7, within a game of the Steelers and Bengals.
Here's how the AFC playoff picture shapes up, keeping in mind that the Patriots and Texans play Monday night. The Texans have clinched a playoff berth; The Broncos and Patriots have clinched the AFC West and AFC East, respectively.
1. Texans 11-1
2. Broncos 10-3
3. Patriots 9-3
4. Ravens 9-4
5. Colts 9-4
6. Steelers 7-6
7. Bengals 7-6
8. Jets 6-7
9. Browns 5-8
10. Chargers 5-8
11. Bills 5-8
12. Dolphins 5-8
