In the final Big East game at WVU Coliseum, the Mountaineers put on an impressive showing as they try to stay on the bubble and play their way into the tournament in the final two weeks of the season. The last place DePaul Blue Demons provided little challenge on a night where the Mountaineers were hot from the floor and determined to avoid a resume-crushing loss. West Virginia rolled to a 92-75 home win.
In their final home game on Senior Night, Darryl "Truck" Bryant and Kevin Jones dominated the Blue Demons, combining for 50 of the Mountaineers' 92 points. Bryant got consistent penetration and was able to get to the free-throw line a whopping 16 times, hitting 12 from the charity stripe. He finished with 28 points. Jones had yet another impressive double-double, grabbing 16 rebounds while scoring 22 points. It was a great way for the seniors to go out.
West Virginia now heads south for a crucial game against the USF Bulls on Saturday. Both teams are on the bubble and fighting for seeding in the Big East tournament.
