2012 CIT Tournament, Robert Morris Vs. Indiana State Recap: Colonials Advance With 7-Point Win Over Sycamores

The Colonials of Robert Morris thought their season had ended in disappointment when they lost in the finals of the Northeast Conference Tournament to LIU. But the they received a bid to the CIT postseason tournament and new life with a trip to Indiana State in the first round. On Monday night, the Colonials advanced with a 67-60 win over the Sycamores.

The Colonials clinched the win on the defensive end, slowing down the game and holding the Sycamores to just 31 percent from behind the arc. Velton Jones and Coron Williams were the only Colonials in double figures, as Andrew Toole went nine deep and spread the wealth around. Russell Johnson did the dirty work in the paint, grabbing 11 boards while also adding nine points.

The Colonials do not yet know who they will face in the next round, as the CIT uses the old NIT model using first round results to create second round pairings.
