The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they've signed goalie and Pittsburgh native John Gibson to a three-year, entry-level deal. Gibson was their second-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.
↵↵↵Gibson, 18 (7/14/93), is tied for the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) lead in save percentage (.926 SV%, tied with teammate Franky Palazzese) this season. He has appeared in 31 games for Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), going 20-10-3 with a 2.81 goals-against average (GAA). Currently seventh among league goaltenders in GAA, Gibson also ranks second among OHL rookie netminders in GAA, third in wins, and fourth in saves (1078).

The 2011 draft was a big one for the Pittsburgh area, as four players with local connections were selected (J.T. Miller in the first round; Gibson and Brandon Saad in the second; and Vince Trocheck in the third). Gibson was one of the top goalies in the draft class.
