Robert Morris Vs. Long Island Final Score: New Year, Same Result As Colonials Fall To Blackbirds

Well, so much for that — barring some Selection Sunday miracle, the Robert Morris Colonials won’t be heading to the NCAA Tournament. RMU lost to Long Island 90-73 in the final of the Northeast Conference Championship, so just like last year, the Colonials have come up just short, and the Blackbirds are moving on (and celebrating it).

The Colonials were behind by eight points at the end of the first half, and they never got particularly close after that, as most of the second half went by with LIU holding about a 10-point lead. The Blackbirds extended their lead in the waning minutes.

Five LIU players finished the game in double figures, led by C.J. Garner with 21 points and Jason Brickman and Julian Boyd with 18 apiece. Brickman also had 11 assists. Lucky Jones had 14 points in the loss for the Colonials.

Spike Lee evidently was in attendance at the game.
