I'll Have Another raced to a win in the 137th Preakness Stakes over the weekend. With the win, the horse claimed its second jewel in the chase for horse racing's elusive Triple Crown and entered the stretch run in a race with history. A win in the Belmont Stakes on June 9 would make I'll Have Another the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years. I'll Have Another is currently the favorite to win at Belmont.
Winning the Triple Crown is a tall order; only 11 horses have done it. Since Affirmed's win in 1979, 11 horses have won the first two Triple Crown races only to see their hopes dashed at Belmont.
Bodemeister is out of the Belmont stakes after a second runner-up performance at the Preakness. Similar to the Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another pulled ahead of Bodemeister with a late surge in the race.
A pair of horses who skipped the Preakness, Dullahan and Union Rags, are expected to be in the field at Belmont. Other probable horses include Rousing Sermon and Paynter.
