Rafael Nadal won his historic 7th French Open title after defeating top-seeded Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 today at Roland Garros.
After play was suspended yesterday due to rain, Nadal started today down 1-2 in the fourth set to Djokovic but grabbed the next two games to take a 3-2 lead. Both players held serve and a tiebreaker seemed likely, but at 6-5 Djokovic committed a couple of errors to give Nadal his first match point of the day. Nadal wouldn't have to do much on match point, as Djokovic send his second serve long to give Nadal the title.
With his victory today, Nadal now owns the record for most French Open titles in the open era, passing Bjorn Borg's six championships. His record should be safe for the near future, as no other player has more than three titles.
