The 2012 Belmont Stakes are only a few days away, scheduled for Saturday, June 9. All eyes are on history as I'll Have Another looks to put the final jewel in its Triple Crown, becoming the first horse to win the sport's most coveted prize in 34 years. The odds, right now, have the horse as a 3-5 favorite. Bettors looking to expand their returns may want to look further down the racing form.
Union Rags has the third-best odds of any horse in the field at 6-1. Some will wonder if sitting out the Preakness in May will give the horse fresh legs for the upcoming contest. Union Rags has three first-place finishes in six races this year.
The second horse on the list is Dullahan, with 5-1 odds. Like Union Rags, that horse did not run in the Preakness following a third-place finish at the Kentucky Derby.
Anyone looking for longer odds may want to consider Paynter, who is also trained by Bodemeister's trainer Bob Baffert. Paynter is a fast horse without a long track record that has 8-1 odds at the moment.
