French Open Results: Sara Errani Upsets Sam Stosur For Spot In Final

The 25-year-old Sara Errani will be playing in her first-ever Grand Slam final after knocking off No. 6 seed Sam Stosur in the semifinals of the 2012 French Open earlier today. Errani, the No. 21 seed, took down the Australian Stosur 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.

The Italian's previous best finish at a Grand Slam was reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier this year, where she lost to to Petra Kvitova in straight sets. No. 4 Kvitova and No. 2 Maria Sharapova are facing off in the other semifinal today, but play has not begun. Errani and the winner of Sharapova/Kvitova will play the final on Saturday.
