The Pirates are looking to avoid what befell the club last season when August and September swoons led to yet another playoffs-less season.
"We're getting more attention because we've earned it," said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle to MLB.com. "You earn that through good play, you earn that through winning games. But how do we win games? By keeping it simple. By taking care of us. By each individual taking care of himself first and helping a brother out when he can help a brother out. And that's what we plan on doing as we move forward."
The Pirates will send righty Kevin Correia to the mound to face the Brewers' Marco Estrada. Correia is 5-6 with a 4.34 ERA while Estrada is still winless at 0-3 with a 4.06 ERA.
A series win against the Brewers would make for eight straight series wins against the NL Central. It would be the first time the Pirates have topped seven straight since winning 10 straight in 1992.
