Alex Presley Injury: Pirates Outfielder Set For Rehab Assignment

Outfielder Alex Presley will be sent out on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday with eyes on a Tuesday return to the lineup as he recovers from concussion-like symptoms he suffered on July 3 while trying to make a diving catch.

Presley was placed on the seven-day disabled list but looks like he'll be ready to join the club in Colorado for their series that starts on Monday in Colorado. Presley has participated in what manager Clint Hurdle referred to as "strenuous" workouts and just needs some time at the plate and in the field before returning.

"It's best served to get him out and get him on the field," Hurdle said. "This way we can use the opportunity to use up to five games. To be down seven, eight days without any game speed and limited activity until the last couple days, he's all for it."

Presley batted .242 in 60 games before the injury.
