Jerry DiPaola reports that the Pittsburgh Power will keep interim head coach Derek Stingley next season. Stingley was previously the Power's defensive coordinator, but he took over the firing of Chris Siegfried in May in the midst of a rough season for the Power and for the Arena Football League in general.
↵↵↵"The (players) we want back, which is a lot of guys, want to play for [Stingley]," Power co-owner Matt Shaner said ...
↵"Coach Siegfried was more of a take-a-lot-more-on-himself (coach). He ruled with a lot heavier hand. Sting is more into coaching meetings and asking other coaches their opinions. That speaks volumes."
↵
Stingley has been an AFL head coach before, briefly serving in that capacity for the New Orleans VooDoo.
↵The Power hopes Mike Tomczak, Brian Basile and John Sikora will return to Stingley's coaching staff next year.
↵The Power is 5-12 with one game left in a season marred by labor disputes.
