Zach Parise Rumors: Pittsburgh Clamors For Penguins To Sign Winger

Dejan Kovacevic of the Trib argues that the Penguins need to "get this done" and sign New Jersey Devils left wing Zach Parise.

Huge upfront payments actually could work to the Penguins’ benefit, as they coincide with the final two years under contract for Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang. Parise’s figure going lower after that will help.

Sure, it’ll be tight under the cap, but it will always be that way for this team. And don’t fret over other long-term financial implications, even if the local sellout streak won’t last forever ...

A winger who clicks with Sidney Crosby — and presumably then tops those 31 goals — is worth this investment, and yes, the investment is affordable.

The buzz surrounding Parise and the Penguins has been loud ever since the Pens shipped out Jordan Staal and Zbynek Michalek during the NHL Draft. Parise would be a huge addition. We should find out this week whether the Penguins end up winning his services. One previous report indicated that Parise's decision could come Monday. If he does sign with the Pens, his contract should be enormous.
