Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay: Schmitt Helps U.S. Advance To Final

The United States women's 4x100 meter freestyle relay team of Lia Neal, Amanda Weir, Natalie Coughlin and Pittsburgh-born Allison Schmitt, advanced to the final of the event on Saturday after posting a final heat time of 3:36.53.

Schmitt swam the 350-meter split in a time of 3:08.29 and the final split in a time of 3:36.53. Both of those splits were good enough to rank Schmitt first in her leg of the relay.

The 4x100 meter relay final field and the lanes they'll swim in will be as follows:

Sweden - Lane 1
Japan - Lane 2
Netherlands - Lane 3
Australia - Lane 4
United States - Lane 5
China - Lane 6
Denmark - Lane 7
Great Britain - Lane 8

The relay final is expected to take place at 3:43 p.m. ET.
