In her final individual event, Allison Schmitt will go for gold on Tuesday in the Women's 200m freestyle in London. Schmitt is two-for-two so far at the 2012 Olympics and as NBC's Dan Hicks put it, she has yet another chance to become one of the breakout stars at the London games with a strong showing in the 200m freestyle.
Schmitt was in lane four during the semifinal and finished strong to come in second place on Monday. The top four finishers in her semifinal were all under 1:57, and Schmitt touched the wall at 1:56.15, trailing only Australia's Bronte Barratt at 1:56:08. Those two will battle in lanes four and five in the finals on Tuesday, with Team USA's Missy Franklin in lane eight. The final is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 2:41 p.m. ET.
