James Harrison Has Knee Surgery For Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a very interesting preseason so far. Whether it is the relationship between Todd Haley and Ben Roethlisberger or the fights in camp, it always seems something is going on.

Now, according to NFL.com, there might be another headline. James Harrison might need knee surgery due to irritation that has caused he knee to swell. The injury has sidelined him for every practice thus far this summer.

It wouldn't be a major surgery, but still one that would set Harrison further back.

Bill Parise, Harrison's agent, had the following to say when asked about the possibility of surgery:

"If it doesn't respond the way everybody wants it, that sounds like the alternative," Parise said. "We'd probably opt for that sooner than later."

Harrison being out of the lineup in the regular season would obviously be a huge loss. The team relies heavily on Harrison and bookend pass-rusher LaMarr Woodley.

UPDATE: Harrison did, in fact, have the surgery.
